Mitali Gurung is a passionate designer, who sees her creations not just as a product to adorn a home or body, but also a means to preserve traditional tribal designs and provide livelihood to artisans and their families.

Mitali’s designs have helped artisans of Impulse Social Enterprises use their traditional weaving to produce a wide range of products that are sold all over India and around the world. With Impulse Empower, she has worked with Mishing, Karbi, and Assamese artisans in creating beautiful multi-style scarves, table mats, and cushion covers.

Over the years, Mitali has worked with various brands and fashion houses across the country, and has done everything from design and development, sourcing materials, coordinating production, and managing buyers. She also has extensive experience in visual design and merchandising.

Mitali has her own home furnishing brand – Miteyna – which she launched in 2015, to produce contemporary products that use hand blocks from Rajasthan, silk from Sikkim, and collectible weaves of Assamese and Naga tribes, in cushions, table sets, runners, and other beautiful home accessories.

As a designer, she speaks in rich tones, through pure weaves and handwork, which are evident in her refined, elegant, and classic designs.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Delhi University, and Diplomas in Fashion Design, and in Garment Production Technology. She is married to an Indian Army officer, and they have two lovely daughters.
